I went out last night with C and his sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting from Minneapolis. We went to some cool places here in the city that I thought I'd share...
We headed down to NoLiTa (NOrth of LIttle ITaly) for dinner to a cool restaurant called Peasant. Apparently, they serve the best lasagna of your life here; however, because it is the summer months, they didn't have it on the seasonal menu. (Waitress: "Um, no, it's way too heavy of a dish to serve during these hot Spring & Summer months, obviously.) Nonetheless, the atmosphere was open and welcoming, the decor was sparse, but it added to the appeal.
Then it was off to the oldest Ale House in the U.S. - McSorley's.
This place hasn't been dusted in about 50 years, I'm sure. It's such a collection of old relics, you sip your beer while just gazing around at all the hundreds of antiques plastered to the walls.
And finally, we hit up Bowery Bar (fondly known as B Bar), where they have a great outdoor patio, where we sat, sipped our drinks, and chatted til 2something in the morning... This place is a fun atmosphere - totally recommend it.
