30 December 2013

Looking back at 2013.

I can't believe that 2013 is at its tail end. Where did the time go?

But then again, I ask myself that every year immediately after the Christmas holiday. It always seems though that the time between Halloween and New Year's Eve passes in such a flash.

Looking back at what 2013 brought me - the job I'd been working for and wanting for a while, a solidified sense of "home" living in my city, more travel experiences for my memory bank, new friends and deeper relationships with old ones - I'm so grateful for every one of the 364 days that I've woken up to so far.

And then looking forward: 2014 sounds like such a great year already. First of all, it's an even number, and I'm a total weirdo stickler for even numbers (it's one of my weird quirks). I'll turn 27 shortly after the turn of the year, and I don't know what it is about the age (it's certainly not that it's an even number), but I'm actually looking forward to that. It'll be the dawn of my late 20s, and it oddly doesn't freak me out. The first half of the year will see me traveling abroad with my best friend in the world, where we'll gallivant through London, Paris and Dublin together - just the two of us, living every minute of that week to the brim. In the middle of the year, my friends and I will welcome two new little additions to our circle, as two of our girlfriends are due with their first babies this summer. And who's to tell what we'll be privy to in the latter part of this next year.

I'm looking forward to soaking it all in, and taking it as it comes. Bring it on, 2014.

Ps - Here's a fun list of New Year's Resolutions that we can all practice in everyday life.

Lace, how I miss you!!
I will never forget ringing in 2013 with you, and it was hands down the best New Year's I ever had - can't wait to figure out another NYE we can spend... :)

I can't wait to hear about all of your adventures in 2014, but I have resolved that I must see my West Coast best friend atleast once...

Love you, pretty girl!!
